Microneedling with
SkinPen

What is Microneedling with SkinPen?

SkinPen by Crown Aesthetics is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device on the market and is clinically proven to improve the appearance of wrinkles of the neck and acne scars in patients ages 22 and older. In as few as three minimally invasive treatments spaced 30 days apart, you can improve your appearance and step out with confidence.

How does microneedling work?

It creates thousands of microchannels that stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process, while minimizing cellular damage. This rejuvenates your skin from the inside out. The result is effective remodeling of scar tissue, while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact.

There are three phases to the wound-repair process:

  • Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to cleanse the wound, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.

  • Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.

  • Phase III: Remodeling. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.

Best of all, SkinPen works. Ninety percent of subjects in the clinical trial would recommend the procedure to family and friends.

What to Expect?

  • You will need to complete at minimum a series of 3-6 microneedling sesions 4-6 weeks apart to see an impactful result.  A number in a series of treatments is individual and based on your skin goals.

  • You will see mild improvements early on in the treatment (your skin will glow within the first couple weeks of your first treatment) but it takes 3-6 months for your body to replace the broken down collagen with new permanent collagen.

  • You need to be in good health and so does your skin

  • No infections or sunburns

  • This treatment involves stimulating your immune system to clean up your broken down collagen and replace it with healthy, new collagen.

  • If you are not in good health, exposing your skin to the sun, smoking, not getting proper hydration/nutrition, or drinking excessive alcohol you will not have optimal treatment outcomes

Appointment Time:

  • The appointment will last about an 1 hour give or take depending on how many areas are treated

  • The areas to be treated will need to have numbing cream applied for 20 minutes prior to treatment

  • Please keep in mind that numbing cream does not mean that you will not feel anything but the treatment will be tolerable.

After treatment:

  • Expect mild irritation that varies from little to mild sunburn feeling for 24-48 hours (it can also be a little itchy). There can also be some mild peeling. This will vary depending on your skincare prior to treatment.

  • No makeup for at least 24 hours.

  • Mild redness may last from 4-72 hours

  • Mild cleansers and skincare for 48-96 hours

  • Avoiding sweating is recommended for about 72 hour as sweating can cause your already irritated skin to become itchy

  • It is imperative that you protect your skin from the sun by using SPF 50 plus and cover

Maintenance treatments:

  • You will need to do a treatment every 3-6 months to maintain your results (remember that this is also based on your health, nutrition, hydration, sun exposure, smoking, alcohol intake, and genetics).
